Photography Sessions:
I offer a mixture of both PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY, I offer outdoor photography and also indoor portrait studio photography. I have a photo studio in Holly Springs, NC. This is where I prefer to do all of my newborn PHOTOGRAPHY SESSIONS and also my milestone sessions. When I am shooting family photography or maternity photos then I typically love to shoot those outside. Being outside offers such a great variety in locations and beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Taking advantage of that soft light that makes pictures just dreamy. During a workshop I always explain how important it is to visualize the picture before you ever take it. If you are not able to “see” what you are wanting your finished result to look like then it can be extremely hard to pull of a great photograph. You can have a kitchen full of ever single ingredient for any cake on earth. If you can not see what that cake is going to look like when its finished, how are you going to know where to start with baking it. The same applies to photography.

I do not believe you can specialize in every single photography subject. To be a “jack of all trades”. When you narrow it down to the photography you enjoy the most, you will find you love it and you will become better and better at it. You simply can’t specialize in everything. There are wedding photographers, boudoir photographers, nature photographers, head shot photographers and so many more…. here are the photography sessions I specialize in:

Maternity Photography:
Maternity photography is a great love of mine. To capture that glowing mother to be, so happy and excited is beautiful. MATERNITY PICTURES are ones you will value forever. I love looking back on mine and seeing how I looked carrying my children. These are treasured pregnancy portraits. My preference is always OUTDOOR MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHY! When I find that perfect location and the perfect dress, it just all magically comes together. Of course it is always fun when a partner is there to join in, Dads have just as much fun (sometimes) 😉 I do my best to make it a fun shoot for them. It is so important to capture the love between them as a couple, a growing family. Their connection is not with me, or my camera, it is with each other and that is what I strive to catch in my maternity portraits. I do have a collection of over 40 maternity gowns that my clients are able to use free for their shoot. This really helps them because now they don’t have to worry about what to wear. They don’t have to worry about investing $100+ on a maternity gown they may only wear once.
Newborn Photography:
My complete passion! I would definitely say that NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY is my favorite!! When moms and dads come to my studio they love to sit and watch as I do their NEWBORN PHOTO SHOOT. I can often hear the little sounds of delight as they see me setting up for the next set of pictures. I know without a doubt that they are going to cherish these newborn photos, so it is important to me to make them special. My photo studio is full of beautiful props ready to use for their shoot. For families who have already had hospital baby pictures taken, I offer them the studio experience. Styling a newborn shoot is as important as taking the pictures. Having a variety of props to choose from is essential to make each client happy. At the end of the day I want them to know that their baby is safe in my hands and that they will experience the best BABY PHOTO SHOOT possible :).

Baby | Child Photography:
Baby and CHILD PHOTOGRAPHY!! What can I say?? Who doesn’t love watching a newborn turn into a baby, a toddler and child. Each milestone session holds its own joys. The 3 month, six month, 9 month and 12 month. I really love the “sitter” session, this is when baby can sit up unassisted. We are able to get so many cute baby photos! I have so many baby photo shoot ideas for this age. They can lay on their tummy and hold their head up. Also lay on their back and give the best smiles! But when they are sitting up and laughing – how can anyone not love baby photography! I think with expressions alone you could fill a gallery, put in variations of poses and the cuteness never stops! Totally love these kinds of shoots. I have won many awards for my work with older children. Children who are between the ages of 3-10 usually. I have available over 20 custom couture dresses for girls to wear and a mixture of hats, caps and scarves for boys. Children really need to be captured doing what they love, this is when you will see the true beauty of their souls coming out. Of course as a photographer I need to set up the stage, put it all together and let magic happen on its own. It is truly amazing watching a little girl light up in a gorgeous dress, twirling in the woods. Or a little boy chasing a boat or running through a field like an airplane. Just watching them and seeing what ignites their small souls. It is a beautiful thing and I completely love photographing children in their “happy” environment. And we all want that perfect CHILD PORTRAIT.
Family Photography:
Although I do not claim to specialize in FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY, I know I am able to get a lovely FAMILY PORTRAIT for you. As much as we all love everyone to be looking at the camera and smiling, I strive to get this for you. I am usually able to get a couple. However, the love truly shows when your not looking at me but looking at each other. When you are laughing, tickling, whispering and being yourselves as a family. It is great when a family pretends I am not there and just sits together and interacts. My job is to catch the love you have as a family, again not the connection with me, but with each other. I have to admit I do laugh the most when I am editing family images. When I see siblings sticking tongues out, dads eyes rolling back, mom holding her forehead.. Oh it can be rather hysterical. And the best part is when I share the images with the family they always love them. They always love those candid “yep, that’s our family”.. shots. I often hear “I can’t believe how well you captured everyone and their own personalities so well”. This to me means I have done my job, I have provided them with family pictures to love forever. I also know they will come back to me for their next FAMILY PHOTO SHOOT! 🙂
