Welcome, Newborn! So you have gone through almost 9.5 months of pregnancy and now your have your bundle of joy! You are officially parents! Possibly for the first time or maybe even the second or third time! Congratulations! Everything in life is about to change. You will most likely feel like life before baby didn’t even exist. I personally felt like my boys had been with me my entire life, from the second I held them. For myself, it was love at first sight. There is no better way to remember this than hiring a newborn photographer. These images we take are so valuable, they are so important and become heirlooms for your future family. Most of my clients have pulled out baby pictures of themselves to compare who the baby favors most. Photographs are that memory that you can hold on to, literally, forever. We do tend to have a shopping problem when it comes to supplying our studio with enough props. At least I do! I love to shop for props! I love to try to style each newborn shoot in my own signature style and also to the parent’s taste. It is important to me that parents have a say in what they would like for me to use or not use during their photoshoot. Each baby is a different size and to make sure all props are size appropriate. I even have newborn outfits for babies of all weights to make sure they fit snug to the baby and look adorable on.

Your newborn photographer should most certainly be licensed and insured. Just like you would never take a Porsche out for a test drive without insurance, you want your newborn photographer to carry insurance also. This will show you that they take themselves and their career seriously. It will show you that they care and they know what is important. Most other businesses require some type of insurance so it only makes sense that your photographer does the same. Take your time in choosing your photographer. Make sure they know what they are doing. Ask questions and look for reviews. See if they are listed with the BBB. Sadly too many people pick up a camera and have no idea how to handle a newborn. They will tell you that they can take your pictures and it will cost so much less! Like everything else in life, you get what you pay for. Newborn photography is an investment and to ensure your newborn is in safe hands, it may be worth paying a little bit extra. Remember, these are images you can never redo.
